Hi folks. My mksysb has recently started complaining about files removed from the system as part of an uninstall of a particular application. The files are unimportant from an OS point-of-view and I'm assuming that the mksysb is created OK (there is nothing to indicate otherwise). However in the interests of tidyness, do I need to do anything to prevent the mksysb from thinking the deleted files should be backed up? TIA.

Hi,

afaik, at starttime of mksysb it builds a list of files/directories to backup.
If some files are deleted inbetween, mksysb complains about.

To prevent this, enter the path of files "not to backup" into a /etc/exclude.rootvg file.
(i.e. path of temp. workfiles, which are changed/deleted periodically)

Regards, Martin

Hi Martin, thanks. That (ie the dynamic creation of the file list) is my understanding too. As I say, it appears to complete OK, so I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it. Regards.
