On my aix 4.3.3 box, i have 4.7GB DVD ram drive,i would like to take the rootvg backup....( if tape available i would have used mksysb command directly)

1. how do we take rootvg backups on this ram drive. Any freeware available ... help me...
2. how do we estimate the size of the mksysb image before running the mksysb command.

thanks in advance.

Hi

What is your Environment ?
Is this a new Machine ?
You must have at least ML9 AIX 4.3.3 installed or AIX 5.1.
You can take a test whit "smit mkcd"

its AIX WITH 4.3.3.0-10. AM using now freeware cdtools
for taking backup.ok
how do we estimaate the size of mksysb backup image before
taking backup.
