Mksysb backup keep failing with the following information. Looks like rpm.rte has issues. Would appreciate help.

Creating information file (/image.data) for rootvg.failed to open /var/opt/freeware/lib/rpm/packages.rpm: I/O error

rpmQuery: rpmdbOpen() failed

# oslevel -r
failed to open /var/opt/freeware/lib/rpm/packages.rpm: I/O error

rpmQuery: rpmdbOpen() failed
5300-04

Have a look in the system error log

errpt|grep disk
errpt -a|more

Sounds like you're in for some disk trouble :-(

HTH,

Yup!
lsvg -p rootvg
hdisk1 missing
Will try umirrorvg then reducevg. Hopefully won't get any error.

Thanks

Well, I don't want to be the one to tell you, but IF your rootvg would have been completely mirrored and synced, a missing disk shouldn't manifest itself during an mksysb or when trying to open files...
