Hi Guys,

We have a proliant 1600 here with 3 1" ultra 2 Hot plug hd's installed. I know you can install 5 1" drives? but is the cage compatibale with ultra 3 hot swop hd's

The array card is 2p.

Many Thanks :)

I have run ultra 2 and ultra 3 1" hot plug drives together on a ProLiant 1850R for quite a while with no problems. In general newer-generation SCSI drives are backwards compatible with older ones as long as they are cable-compatible (which they will be if they are all hot-plug drives), though they may also revert to the data transfer performance of the older standard. For me that has been no problem. I don't know why it would be any different on your 1600.
