we use HP DL360 servers with HP 36Gb U320 SCSI 10rpm hard drives in mirrored pairs. We have lost one of the redundant drives, but can't find these drives available any more.

Does anyone know what the issues are with replacing one of the mirrored drives with one of a different speed? or even different size? It would be easy for us to get hold of 15rpm drives but not sure if that would upset things...

thanks

It should work just fine. If you were replacing with a slower drive - it would slow things down - but a faster drive shouldn't be an issue.

Although you are told the drives should be identical in a RAID I have never found this to be an issue.

You might want to do a full backup before adding this drive just to be on the safe side.
