Hi.

How is the mivoice plugin licensed for Lync users?

I have some users that have Mitel 5312 handsets and some that will not have handsets at all - just the lync client (so i presume it is a softphone too?)

DO i need licences on my MCD. I have been told the MAS licence is free?

Thanks.

Rich

The plugin license is free
54005953 Microsoft Lync Plug-in 1 user
54005954 Microsoft Lync Plug-in 100 user

This basically adds the lync functionality to an existing Micollab client (UCA) account .

What do you have at the moment - MCD ? MAS ? LBG ?

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

yes thats grrat, i understand more now,

But if the plugin is to be used as a phone (soft) do i need a user licence on my MCD.

I want my Lync users to have a headset and make calls from thie desktop using there plugin.

I have MCD with release 6 and vMAS collab.

Thankyou

plugin is nothing but a connector to lync

if you want Micollab (UCA) to be a softphone , yes you need a
user license for the MCD
sip softphone client license for the MiCollab Client
then apply the lync plugin to it.

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

so the Lync client does not have softphone capabilities?

Even though my users can dial lync to lync?

And for a lync user to be able to dial out over my BT ISDN trunks via my Mitel MCD i would need to give them an extra softphone licence if they dont have a phone on their desk?

Sorry for a ll the questions, just trying to understand

The lync plugin is the replacement for LBg - it basically allows a lync client to control a Mitel extension beit a deskphone or softphone
if you want lync only users to be able to use the trunks on teh MCd then i think you will need sip trunks between lync and the MCD.

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Mitel has a product called UCA ( or Micollab something now ). The UCA softphone can be a stand alone phone with its own telephone number or it can control a Mitel phone. From how I understand it, in order to tap the Microsoft Lync base Mitel created a client that acts as a "bridge" from the Lync software into the Mitel MCD that allows Lync to access Mitel telephone features. Each MiVoice for Lync client will need a license on the MCD and in the UCA/Micollab server.

You can't duct tape stupid.
