MiVoice Office 250 admin?

Hi all,

I'm assisting a client with their Mitel MiVoice Office 250 system. I've used 3300 before but the web browser interface is totally different..

It seems very very restricted - is there any software I'm missing? Ie I can't even change an extension number once its created - looks like I have to delete it and re-create it?

You need to use the database programming tool which is part of the System Admin and Diangnostics software, this needs to be installed and is version specific i.e not backwards compatible

To move digital extensions you will need to rewire at the block, If you are talking about changing extension numbers completely, then yes, digital extensions have to be completely deleted and then built back with a different number in the controller menu...this is because the number is tied to a physical port on the system.

IPs can just be changed, much as the 3300. I'm sure if the 3300 had digital extension, the problem would be the same there also.

You can just renumber digital ports using the database programming

you know what? amriddle01 is partially right and I was partially incorrect...I had done a complete swap of extensions from digital to IP (and visa-versa) for a customer last week and that was still on my mind.

You can just click on the extension and assign a new one...but you can't assign a currently working extension to another one...you have to assign an extension that is not being used and then take the previous ext and reassign it to a different set...

Partially? He didn't mention using existing extn numbers from IP sets though.... Regardless, just because reassigning an existing extn requires an extra step, that step is still just renumbering the port a second time.

Not sure how that makes me partially wrong when I say you can just renumber the port in programming?

You're right amriddle01, as I probably misunderstood his post and was coming from the standpoint of moving exiting extension numbers...to change an extension to a number that is not currently being used, it is as simple as you said...
