I received an error that I have a
corrupt data file. The inv_prd.dbf file has a duplicate ID number 1101.
I have had these problems before and I had someone else fix them. If it is a matter of editing the data file to remove the duplicate entry, could someone tell me how to do it or where I can find out how. Since it seems corrupt data happens frequently, I would rather know how to fix it myself. Also, I would like to know how to check to see if there are more.

If you have FoxPro you can edit the dbf files after an ftp download. You could also read with and ADO or ODBC from another program. Just make sure you BACKUP the origonal!!!!!

You need to be careful when editing DBF files directly with external programs. FoxPro and some others may perform an automatic conversion to a newer format, thus changing the DBF's header (especially true for DBFs with associated DBT files), and rendering the file unusable in Merchant.

Also, keep in mind that editing the DBFs with external programs does not update the MVX indexes. -----------------

That is true. Make sure you do not allow the dbf to be upgraded when prompted. Also, doing a compact in the miva merchant updates all of the mvx files. I built my ecommerce site using this tecnique. As I said, make sure you back up all the files you are changing. Thay way, if you have a problem you can restore the origonals.
