MITSUMI CD-R DRIVE NOT REGONIZING CD-RW

I have a Mitsumi model# CR-48X5TE running adaptec easy cd creator 4.02 and running ME as my OS. I have only used the RW feature maybe a couple dozen times. When I install the never used RW disk(which I use memorex 1x4 times speed, which in the past worked fine with it) the orange light sits there and just flashes, like it does not regonize the CD-RW disk. I can put a regular CD-R disk in and I have no problem with writing to that. I am wondering if anyone would happen to know why it will write to a regular CD-R disk and not regonize the CD-RW disk? Thanks!
