Is there a version of the downloadable Desktop Edition of MiTSP (TAPI) for Windows Vista?

In May we began using MiTSP to support an in-houe application and that works very well. But I am finding that the Desktop Edition of MiTSP does nto seem to install fully on Windows Vista computers. The Desktop Edition of MiTSP (TAPI) setup does run, and there is a MiTAI object on the control panel, and the Mitel Network TAPI Service Provider is listed as an available TAPI provider on the computer, but any attempt to add the provider to the Phone and Modem options list fails.

Is there a newer version of Desktop Edition of MiTSP for Vista? Or is there a service bulletin that addresses setting up the Mitel Network TAPI Service Provider in Vista?

Hi Charlie,

I don't believe that Mitel is planning on continuing development of its TSP; including adding Vista support.

Your Assistant 4.1 will ship with a Vista compatible TSP which uses Your Assistant to proxy the calls from an external TAPI dialer (such as Outlook).

Thank you very much for the reply.

What is the approach then if a Windows Vista computer application needs to communicate with a Mitel 3300 ICP?

If there will be no new TAPI Service Provider from Mitel, then what TSP does one use? Is there a generic TAPI Service Provider in Vista that works with the 3300 (version 7 software)?

Is there something other than TAPI that developers should use instead?

Hi Charlie,

There really isn't a good alternative. Mitel's TAPI implementation is based on MiTai, you could write your own TSP, but that isn't a trivial task.

Your path of least resistance would be to request a Vista compatible TSP in hopes Mitel will make the changes required to support Vista.
