I am trying to connect a 3300 MXe to an Avaya (im not sure what kind of avaya)

Both switches are located in the same rack physically.

First of all, is it possible to connect the two any other way than with a PRI? The avaya tech wishes to use a regular T1 with no d-channel. I was able get green lights by changing to t1d4 with b8zs and esf enabled. I cant seem to get past that point, I try to assign the trunks and it tells me that the signaling must be the same for the far end link? The avaya tech said if it was just T1 it would be much easier than pri because there would be no signaling issues. I always thought I would then have to set up DID and outward trunks, but he said that was old technology. I just dont understand how that would even work.

PRI worked a lot better, I connected the two and got them to communicate with ISDN-PRI. I had to check the Q.sig box to get the d-channel to come up but once I did, I got the green light on and the d-channel came up.

I set up ARS and was able to call from the Mitel to the Avaya and the Avaya to the Mitel. Im having trouble when the avaya calls the Mitel. The person using the Avaya equipment will enter the 4 digit code, and the listener will get the auto attendant prompting them to call the extension they wish to reach. I have programmed the Mitel to absorb 4 digits. the avaya tech wishes to hear only dial tone. how is the accomplished?

Also, I go to the form (I believe it is leading digits form) and attempt to turn on secondary dial tone for Mitel digits dialed. For instance, I have programmed 432 to use route 13, and when I attempt to program an entry for 432 to use secondary dial tone, it refuses to populate the option with 'yes' What gives?

Why does the Avaya tech want to use T1 ?
Pri and QSIG is easier

What does the Avaya system looks like ?
Is it an ipoffice (403,406,412,500)
Or is it a definity/cm (G700,g450 etc etc etc)

He spoke with an associate who said it would be easier if we did it plain T1. Do you think it is even possible, especialy without DIDs?

I did one of these integrations a while back with a definity system. The customer had stopped paying for avaya maintenance and therefore the software was out of date. It was going to cost them something like $40,000 to get thier avaya up to date with the qsig feature, so we chose to use PRI instead with Avaya end acting as the CO. Since the avaya guy had so many needs, I made him setup his side first and just give me the information needed about my end. Its been a while but I can show you some of my Trunk service forms if you decide to go PRI

cknipe, I might want to have a look at some of your trunk forms.

we are just using pri now, regular t1 was just too much of a circus.

I got a second dial tone when I call from the mitel to the avaya, but im still getting a prompt when I call from the avaya to the mitel. theres an auto attendant telling me to press the extension of the person I want to call. how can I change that? what options do I have?

how can I make calls route through the avaya on a first prority, but through the regular telephone network if the avaya is down? can someone please walk me through that?

Can you tell us what system it is (the Avaya)
The CM works different then the ipoffice
The CM is a bit harder to do and if you get an AA then it is not setup well

And cknipe is right, the older Definity's must be upgraded for PRI and qsig and is very expensive
