I am trying to connect a 3300 MXe to an Avaya (im not sure what kind of avaya)
Both switches are located in the same rack physically.
First of all, is it possible to connect the two any other way than with a PRI? The avaya tech wishes to use a regular T1 with no d-channel. I was able get green lights by changing to t1d4 with b8zs and esf enabled. I cant seem to get past that point, I try to assign the trunks and it tells me that the signaling must be the same for the far end link? The avaya tech said if it was just T1 it would be much easier than pri because there would be no signaling issues. I always thought I would then have to set up DID and outward trunks, but he said that was old technology. I just dont understand how that would even work.
PRI worked a lot better, I connected the two and got them to communicate with ISDN-PRI. I had to check the Q.sig box to get the d-channel to come up but once I did, I got the green light on and the d-channel came up.
I set up ARS and was able to call from the Mitel to the Avaya and the Avaya to the Mitel. Im having trouble when the avaya calls the Mitel. The person using the Avaya equipment will enter the 4 digit code, and the listener will get the auto attendant prompting them to call the extension they wish to reach. I have programmed the Mitel to absorb 4 digits. the avaya tech wishes to hear only dial tone. how is the accomplished?
Also, I go to the form (I believe it is leading digits form) and attempt to turn on secondary dial tone for Mitel digits dialed. For instance, I have programmed 432 to use route 13, and when I attempt to program an entry for 432 to use secondary dial tone, it refuses to populate the option with 'yes' What gives?
