Ok so im like almost there on trying to figure out where the file is for the User reset since i have a working Tw server and a nonworking one Hopefully i can reboot the server and change the root password

but i found it in /home/e-smith/db/accounts but im not sure if theres another location to do a reset on a password.

if anyone

Thanks ;)

According to Mitel documentation, a lost root/admin password means you would have to perform a new install.

If you have "found" where the password resides and change it, it may work, but there is no guarantee. There is not a lot of documentation on the internal files of the MSL. I hope you're able to make it work.

I also caution you on posting whether this works or not. As this is a public forum, you stand to potentially compromise the security of some Teleworker servers.

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Just do a re install
You say it is a non working server so no need to reconnect phones :)

reboot the server. as the o/s starts, hold down the "A" key. the server will continue to boot and prompt to change the password. remember to change the admin and root passwords (they should be the same).

so you really can change the password that way huh i didnt know you could i try it out when i head to the job site

holding down the a key didnt do anything does it need to be on caps

-Installed 2 months ago...User changed Admin password and doesn't
* remember it anymore
* Here is the password recovery process:
*
* 1. When the server is booting and you see the screen for the boot
* option (SME Server-up EL or SME Server) enter an (A) to modify the
* kernel arguments before booting.
* 2. Type in a space then the word (single)
* you will see.. grub append> ro root=/dev/main/root_ single
* (the system will start to boot but will stop at sh-3.00#)
* 3. type passwd admin
* 4. type the new password and confirm it
* 5. type passwd root
* 6. type the new password and confirm it
* 7. reboot the server

NYtalkin - You get a star if someone proves this. I don't have a MAS in my lab.

Sounds like something that should be posted in the FAQs.
