Mitel MiVB 9.1 scratchy, static voice on internal call at times

This morning I had a report from a coworker about them calling into the Mitel and the it sounded staticky...

Over the course of the morning I made some internal calls (extension to extension) and on a couple of them I experienced the scratchy, static sound in the voice quality as well in the ringback tone before they picked up. Other calls I made were normal. I have not experienced this before in this, or any other Mitel system installed or worked on.

This MiVB is at a sheriff office/justice center and all phone related equipment is on its own Vlan and runs across Cisico Enterprise switches and a robust network.

What would be the "usual suspect" to look for to try and identify why the internal sound quality has suddenly eroded at times?

The most likely suspect is compression causing poor audio. Navigate to Codec Settings and set G.722 to filtered. It's the third option from the top.

Thanks.

I made the change this morning...of course, the issue seemed to disappear about midday yesterday...so who knows.
