Hello,

Our company is looking to change the voicemail platform from the 6510 Messaging Server (on its last legs) and use an existing Unity Connection located approximately 1500 miles away.

Has anyone out there done this integration? From reading other posts I'm guessing SIP trunks would be required between the Mmitel and Cisco Call Manager, but is there anything else required (licensing, specialized routing, etc) on the Cisco or Mitel? Is message waiting an issue? Is this a bandwidth hog (2000 users to be migrated).

I'm currently running traffic reports on port usage on the 6510 to determine how many trunks would be required, but would appreciate input from anyone who has some experience with this integration.

I know we had one client that has done that before. I did some troubleshooting with it. I am not too sure what they did on the vm end for the mailboxes etc, but for the connection between the sites we did use SIP trunks. This is an older doc but the one I used for the Sip trunking:

Good Luck

Never done this so not sure if I can help. Would suggest checking the software loads on the MCD and Cisco as there is often improvements to SIP in newer loads.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
