I am currently doing a 3300lx to mxe upgrade and have to ask about the licensing. The current lx system has been synched to mitel amc. On other occassions where licenses were hard coded, I just needed to clear the hardware ID on amc and then synch my new controller and it downloaded all the licenses. Can I have the old system running with the licenses and clear the hardware id on the amc and synch my new controller to retrieve the same licenses ? Or is it done differently and how ?

You need to clear the hardware id of the lx and then let the MXE sync to amc with that record application id
You need to remove the licenses on the lx !!!

If it syncs to amc somehow the system will end up without licenses and you lost all pbx functionaly's !!!

What do you mean ?

How long do you want to let the lx run while you are building the mxe ?

Just be sure you remove the dns settings so it can not sync to the amc anymore

Then remove the hardware id and then add the licenses to the mxe

I am not sure what the rules are for this but the lx will never ever be able to download that licenses again and will lose then if it syncs to amc

So be sure it can not do that then there is no problem

excellent, I just need to use the old controller as a rollback/contingency plan incase the the new controller fails on its first day in service, customer wishes to have a contingency plan in place, although i know it should be fine. Also while your on, do you know how the ribbon cable connects when you add an e2t onto an mxe, The mitel thb doesnt explain it very well!

Realistically, there is no limit to the amount of time the licenses can remain on the old system. The system licenses cannot be modified but they will not automatically disappear. You will not be able to upgrade either. Removing the DNS setting is the best method to prevent accidental syncronization.

kwb's recommendation on removing the DNS entries is the way to go. If, by some chance, you still wind up synching the old controller to AMC, you WON'T lose users. This is a safeguard built into the system for just such a situation.
