I was hoping someone could shed some light on how the phones I have recently installed onsite are actually working!
They are Mitel 5330e IP Phones.
So a customer of ours recently moved office, their old site had a Cisco router with DHCP options that told the phones the IP address of the virtual MiVB in our data centre.
On their new site we had installed a Zyxel router which does not have the ability to add DHCP options, however when we connected the phones they booted straight up with no issues except for two phones which displayed `Option 129 Missing.'
I checked one of the phones that was working to see if it had any static values added but there were none at all.
From my understanding when a phone is rebooted it loses any config other than config that has been set manually on the phone? I had a theory that the phones that were working remembered their DHCP options and the two phones that didn't work were spare phones that weren't in use so did not remember, however my previous sentence disproves that so I would like some helping understanding how the phones are working.
Many thanks.
