Hi all,

I've got a problem on a 3300 setup, whereby client phones (mixture of 5330/5340's) seem to be conflicting in IPs.

The DHCP is handled by the domain controllers on site, and the phones have no problem connecting to it. Every few minutes the affected phones will show the loading screen and 'Contacting Server', and then load up again.

Looking in the maintenance logs of the 3300, we get a load of these:
Possibly 2 computers with the same IP address (172.16.220.14).One of those computers has MAC address 08:00:0f:73:64:7d. If this IP is used by the Mitel RTC card, E2T card, a phone or router, there may be disruption in telephone service.

Looking in the DHCP management console (Windows Server 2012 R2), I cannot see a lease for this MAC address, but I can ping the IP address successfully.

I have rebooted the Mitel 3300 but it's still having these issues.

Anyone got any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe someone has set the IP address statically.

Check the IP Telephone Inventory form to see if you can find the MAC address/IP of the extension.

Does the DHCP show the IP 172.16.220.14 in the lease?

I did think that at first, however there aren't any static addresses bar two 5550 IP Consoles, and the Console (220.2) and the ET2 card (220.3).

The DHCP doesn't show that lease at the moment. I've got a workaround which is to create a DHCP reservation for the phones not showing in the console, but conflicting in the 3300 logs, with a different IP so have some stability. I'm just unsure as to why it's suddenly become an issue

The 3300 is smart enough to not hand out new addresses that already exist. If it is detecting an IP conflict, then it wont be due to the 3300 DHCP.

I would find the phone identified, unplug it and then ping the address. IP conflict will cause issues.
