Mitel CX II controller using bri trunks - incoming calls not going through the operator console

Answer point - operator console configured for day service and one extension configured for night service but when the system is on day service external calls not going through while internal calls go through. when on night service external calls go through the night service extension. Anybody with an idea why this is so?
