Hi All,

I hve been tasked with finding some call accounting software for a school that I support. The solution they have is a Mitel 3300MXe with 3 5550 consoles for the main office and the majority of the 100+ handsets being 5304s. When a caller calls the school they first hit the Auto Attendant which presents them with 3 options. Press 1 to report absence, press 2 for Finance or hold for all other calls. When they hold the reception consoles then ring.

I've browsed the web a bit and found MiStats which should interpret the SMDR logs and allow reporting etc. I installed MiStats trial and connected to the 3300 and after changing some SMDR options I'm now getting calls reported...great.

After allowing calls to record for a while I found that rather than reporting the receptionists extns 1000,1001,1002 I'm seeing Att1, Att2, Att3 which in itself isn't a big issue. Secondly I noticed it will not report incoming or outgoing calls, which really is the point of the school asking for call accounting software.

I have called my mobile from a handset in school and have also called in to the main reception from my mobile and nothing is registered.

I have been in contact with MiStats support who checked my SMDR setup, confirmed they thought it looked right then said they didn't know and to contact Mitel directly. This isn't really an option as the school don't want to pay for Mitel to take a look, and I would have hoped the developers may have known why their SW wasn't working.

My question is 2 fold really. Has anyone seen the behaviour described above before and have any ideas about it?

Or does anyone know of other software that would be worth a go? Please bear in mind this is a school in the north of England so capital is at a bare minimum.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as the school are on my back about this now. If you need any more info please let me know and I'll get back to you.

Cheers,
C

I am in the UK and we use triline, full call logging, full reprting, schedules etc tariffs can be imported for call costings. options available for wallboards etc if required.
The basic package supports upto 300 users are the RRP is about £1000.00 - well worth the investment IMO.
its supported and tested with the 3300.
Also worth considering the support you will reiceve - the tech support guys are excellent.

smdr external enabled in class of services of trunks and extensions?
as for call accounting software, prairiefyre.

Hi Waldo,

That seems to have done the trick for recognising outgoing calls from any extn and incoming calls to any extn except for the 3 console phones which handle calls coming in on the main line after the AA has dealt with them...

I'll have to keep playing I think. I have SMDR internal and SMDR external enabled on all COS now including the console COS but it doesn't seem to have made a difference to calls coming in on the main number.

If anyone else has any more thought's I'd be glad to hear them as the software is so close now to doing what we need it to!

Thanks to James as well for your suggestion, I will mention it to the school but I have a feeling that might be out of their price range.

Cheers,
C

We have used periscope from cvt and am now starting to use CAAB from TSA

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

There are cos options and/or smdr options that control how the consoles report. I'll have to get to a pc to give you more. Using iPhone right now

Thanks kwbMitel,

Look forward to hearing from you if you have any success.

I only had a moment to look but in the smdr options it canbe configured to report the login name of the console user. Not what you're looking for. I have to hit the road for a 5 hr drive so maybe tomorrow

I usually enable Int/Ext SMDR in all COS being used (trnks, endpoints,vm ports,etc...).

We've been deploying Parie Fyre for reporting purposes.

Don't think the consoles ever report an extension number.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

here is the note from the manual with respect to the Attendant reporting number/name.

The first four characters of an Attendant's user name are recorded in SMDR logs instead of " ATTn (where n is the attendant number).

so, I interpret this to mean that the 4 digit number will not be reported at all.
