Hi all,

Just looking for some confirmation if possible...

We will soon be moving to a new office so I want to set the network up properly (previously put together in spare time for a startup company).
We're running OSX computers with Apple Airport Extreme base station. The airport is providing wifi access as well as firewall duties for VPN, Mail and a few other services. Its also the DHCP server.

Now I've been told that running the mitel and computers off the same network for a single office of 30 is fine - if that is so then my plan is as follows...

Mitel - DHCP server
Airport - Wifi access (Will the router be able to allocate IP's from the Mitel - I don't think it will..)
- VPN duties - again won't the Airport need to be able to give out IP's as well?

The more I think about it the less I think it will work without VLANSs etc but I think that would just be overkill for such a small network..

Could anyone shed some light for me?

Cheers

People will tell you that shared networking is fine because theyve done it and never had any issues

The same people will tell you that jaywalking during rush hour is fine because they've done it and never had any issues

If you have a problem, ummm, oh well, we didnt, get well soon ok

So you recommend keeping it separate?

Will certainly make my network planning simpler and of course more resilient..

Ok thanks.

Separate with voice prioritization - as designed/engineered by Mitel
