Hi,

Since turning on the Mitel alerts we seem to get notifications every Sunday without fail. But when I check the system everything seems to be fine however the logs show a system reboot. I remember a while back speaking with an engineer who said this would happen but I wouldnt have thought it would send alerts for a supposedly scheduled reboot?

Does any one know if this is the case and how to turn it off just for scheduled reboot?

Cheers
Mo

thats correct as when the system shuts down alerts are generated.
Dont believe youc an disable the alerts just for a reboot however I would be interested to know if anyone knows otherwise

Just seems kinda strange that it would generate an alert for a scheduled reboot. Does this not defeat the point of having alerts? If it just gets ignored one a week a real issue could get disguised?

Maybe some people would like to know that the reboot happened as scheduled.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Fair enough, I see your point. Does anyone know of a way to make them scheduled reboots and actuall issues obviouse in the alerts?

When a system reboots certain services get shutdown or are delayed start during a reboot. If you look at your log files you will see them. A good example is if you have a PRI connection. When the system boots the T1/E1 card comes up later in the boot and then has to re-synch with the connection. Therefore the trunks are showing 100% unavailable and thus generate a critical alarm. No way to really adjust the email on this alarm, unless you never wanted to be emailed an alarm (which I assuming is not the case).
