my mitel 5550ip console is not getting address fom the icp but the other ip phones got it.Assigning static ip on the icp is failing. How can I get the console to work?

DID it ever work?
If yes, try resetting by disconnecting the power from the keypad.

If never worked:
First thing I would verify is if the Port the Console is plugged into is capable of talking to the ICP. Plug a regular phone in and observe the boot sequence.

If that fails, correct issue and try the console again.

If port is good and console still fails:
- Are the phones on a separate VLAN?
- Are the phones statically assigned any values?
- Can you plug the console into a jack dedicated to the voice VLAN to test? If so with what results?

this is a new install. The icp is connected to a switch & there's no server. The computer connected to the console can connect to esm.Hardwarewise everything is perfect.Perfect boot sequence with ip phone.I have unplugged & unplugged over 10times.

I think you are using option 125 only. Configure option 128+ and it will normally work fine.

not just 128

Configure
128 RTC Address
129 TFTP Address
130 "MITEL IP PHONE"
132 VLAN
133 VLAN PRIORITY

I don't know exactly wat's wrong in your configuration now, but use the command vlan_off on the serial port

Can you tell me something about you network?
Are your phones connected behind the Phones?
Are you using a Windows DHCP server for your data VLAN
Are you using the Mitel DHCP server for your Voice Vlan?
Are you using lldp or cdp to switch the phones to the voice lan or the dhcp server in the data vlan?

I had also troubles with registring 5550 phones to the Mitel.
What I always do now is before connecting the Mitel to the cusomers network is, enable the DHCP server
Make syre options 125 is correct
Make sure the options 128,129 etc is correct

Delete every MAC adddress registration in the Mitel(leaseviewer, console set up, etc)

For sure use de VLAN_OFF command

connect the 5550 directly to the Mitel and wait

The first time out off the box the 5550 has some troubles with registration with option 125.

That's the reasen why you need to set set up the 128+ options

Im using the Mitel DHCP server enabled. The 5550 is new from the box so is everything including the ICP.Im not sure what my options need to be apart from the ones above.Everything is working on default settings. On my previous installations I never had to change any option.

ok, but it's not clear for me how the Mitel is placed in your network.

Right now my 5550 is plugged directly onto the ICP lan port.No network to talk of.I need to get it working connected directly like that then I will be okay.I have tried assigning static ip then the 5550 fails to register.Just tell how you would do it if it were you connecting the 5550 right from the start so that I do the same. For your information my network is dedicated Mitel only, no computers to be connected & no windows server.

What I would try on this moment is:

disable/delete option 125
Delete the console in the Mitel
Add a console in the Mitel
Clear the leaseviewer data
check if a normal phone will reboot now
check if the 5550 wil reboot correctly now

You said sure use vlan_off command are you suggesting that for the 5550 to work the I shoul do vlan_off? Currently mine is on vlan_on.

No, it's not neccessary to use the VLAN_OFF command, just in case if your vlan config is not set up correctly.

I had already turned it off just to test.Still the 555o doesnt want to work. What do you think is wrong with my 5550.If I give it a ststic address it doesnt work ,if the ICP assigns it a dynamic one it doesnt work again. In both scenarios the config wizard succeeds but when you open up the 5550 the screen is just grey & when you check under IP phone-All the 5550 will be Out of Service witthout an Ip address.

If you are rebooting the 5550 and wait a few minutes wil the LED of the 5550 go off?

Have you tried to disable option 125 and reboot a normal phone. Just to check of the options 128+ is set up correctly?
You have posted the options, I don't see anything wrong on t, but try it.

My ICP is on software v8 & my 5550 is v2,does this by any chance cause the 5550 not to work?By the way when I take out option 125 normal ip phones boot properly. So what should I make of that? The other thing is that my PC is on ip 192.168.1.150 subnet 255.255.255.0 but the 5550 has ip 192.168.1.88 subnet 192.168.1.0.I this mismatch of subnet an issue causing the 5550 not to work?
