I have been a member for a while, usually just lurking, but I cannot figure this one out.

I received some phones that are all in good shape, 5340s, but all of them are in SIP boot mode.
I have been looking for some way to switch them back to MiNET, and thus far nothing has worked.

- Reset phone to factory default through Tools
- Attempted *6 at boot up, error on screen (Not Allowed)
- Attempted *7 which says Phone Already in SIP Lock
- Going into protocol on the phone only shows 0=SIP no other keys do anything.

Are these phones SIP only?

Power the phone while holding the 5
Network Parameters --> NO
Hardware Config --> NO
Phone Mode --> YES
Protocoll --> YES
Phone Mode --> Change
Choose Minet!

Attempted:
No option for Minet on the phone mode page using 5 to get there either.
It only displays 0=SIP #=Back (missing *=minet)

Do I need to set up a TFTP server on my network with MN_Generic.cfg?
Found elsewhere:
The Auto SIP/MiNET feature provides a network remote control for switching all phones from SIP mode to MiNET mode and back. The first step in switching multiple phones is modifying the sip_mode tag in the configuration file. To switch all phones in the network, modify the sip_mode tag in the MN_Generic.cfg file. To switch a subset of phones, modify the sip_mode tag in the MN_User.cfg or MN_<MAC address>.cfg files.
Note: You can also switch mode for single phones using the *6 and *7 key press at power up. This manual setting will override the DHCP mode option. The configuration file setting, however, overrides both the manual and the DHCP settings.
I have no idea where those files would be located, though I can stand up TFTP.
Can I SSH or telnet into a running phone and change its config file?

*6 *7 are not working, nor is the usual Protocol portion of the boot menu, no matter how I get to it.
All of my other phones also show *=Minet on the protocol mode page, but these new phones do not.

Sounds like the firmware is missing for Minet
Are these phone 'new' from Mitel? if so then exchange them as DOA
If from a 3rd party then I would suggest return and replacement

It maybe possible to upload the firmware back in to the phone via TFTP the same way you upgrade the SIP firmware.

I like the "Tools and Features" default better. I think it's more robust. So, Do "No" until you are at "Tools and Features". Then "No" until you see "Restore Defaults", then "Yes". Hope this does it. Thanks.

Always look out for the next guy because it may be you!
