Hello,

I need to convert a mitel 5330 into a SIP. I've managed to do it but I can't figure out how can I put the settings (user name, password, SIP domain, proxy) in ?! When I try to browse to the phone, all I get is a webpage where I can choose the language and put the IP address of the TFTP server. The FW on the phone is R8.0.05.01.00.16.

Thanks a lot in advance.

I believe that you must enter the settings on the phone itself. I haven't tried by browsing to it before, but when you change the phone mode on the set after it reboots it should ask you enter the information when the set loads.

You don't get that option through the phone menu. You can't assign the SIP register number / password / registrar anywhere. The only option is to browse to the phone but all I get is this.

And did you do it so that the phone would grab its load and reboot? You might get the more advanced menu after doing this. The other thought I had is there you might need to browse to something other then just the IP address of the phone like Looking to see if I can find any notes on the login.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Yes, I get this even if I push a language file in. I'm quite familiar with SIP and I'm a Mitel engineer but they've stopped supporting SIP a well back ago so I can't get any help from them.

they stopped supporting SIP a well back ago? What are you talking about. Mitel supports SIP.

Have a look on MOL and you can see when the last SIP sw for an 5330/5340 was released. Yes, there is a lot of SIP trunking and some other clients (polycom, snom, etc) but if you want to install a mitel phone as a SIP client, there is lack of information. There is a user guide with some config files but you can't browse to the phone ?! Hence the above post.
Try to ring mitel yourself and see what they say about it. I've got a training course next week and I'll ask the tutor.

SO you mean they aren't putting out anything regarding 5330/5340 as a SIP phone. That's not the same as saying they don't support SIP. WEH!

Finally sorted!
The latest release + language files are not available to the public, only to mitel engineers employees.
Easiest way: plug the phone into a MCD 6.0 SP1, the phone will download the latest firmware, then factory default the phone and should be able to browse into it.
