I have an off-site Field Consultant Trainer (CT) who is having intermittent problems with his Teleworker phone.

We recently upgraded the user's router to a Cisco (LinkSys) WRV210 Wireless-G VPN w/ RangeBooster router to help resolve Quality of Service (QoS) issues we were experiencing. I have not yet been able to confirm whether or not these issues started to occur before or after the router installation.

The main problems that have been occurring are:

Phone unit frequently reboots - sometimes it appears to come up cleanly, other times it displays the message "Locked Out" on the display; Even though it says "Locked Out", it will continue to allow the CT to make & receive calls, etc.

Speaker Phone - doesn't always work and if working, does not always work correctly. I.e. CT doesn't pick up handset & starts to dial numbers, speaker phone doesn't engage and start the call; Sometimes he can put an existing call on speaker and other times, he can't.

Has anyone else come across these issues? Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Teleworker depends on the Internet connection. Generally connection from the theleworker to your controller will traverse many IP and non-IP networks and some of them could be conggested, have big delays and other issues. All this is out of your control. Using teleworker you should expect that it may not work. It the phone is being used with some sort of hotel networks, they are known to have issues and huge oversubscription.

With enough bandwidth teleworker sets normally work fine. Even though you bought the Cisco for Qos, that is only locally and not across the internet. Are you running the teleworker compressed as that might let you make the best use of the existing bandwidth?

There may be no i in team but there are three f's in fudge off.

also, "Locked Out" typically means that the handset has not fully engaged the hookswitch or that the hookswitch is not working, or that the handset cord has been placed into the headset jack.

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Sometimes if you manage to enter wrong type of the phone, but MAC and PIN match, then teleworker will print this on the phone. I saw it also with some other scenarious with Teleworker. Possible incomplete or broken messages due to network issues may produce some unexpected results
