Hi all

Any 5000 experts out there!

We have put some 5000 into customers with analogue trunks. All works great and easy to install. However one issue we have a lot is there appears to be no First Party Clear on the analogue trunks. So if a caller hangs up before being answered the 5000 still holds that call until answered and the the user gets "the other person has cleared"

Any ideas?

If its British system there is no First party clear. Its calling party clear only. I don't know if the 5000 is the same as the 3300 but you have to adjust the disconnect clear timer to make it work especially if you have feature lines as the call clear signal for them is strange at 800 msec and anything much out of this range will cause the call to be held on the system as you require. Contact your line provider and see what the call clear signal is set to and change that timer on the 5000 if it has one (and it will somewhere0.

Indeed, this an issue with most PABXs not just the 5000, I work on these and Avaya IP Office and both have the same issue, you need to play with the disconnect clear timers, often they need setting 150ms lower than what BT say they are set as. Often BT say they can't do it or they don't know what you are talking about, if the line has been provisioned as a "line box" and not "NTTP" they will often refuse to do it, you need to persevere....as ever with BT :)
