Hi,

Can someone tell me what's the meaning of this error message?

MIPS *** Autoboot: Trying device 'eth0' file 192.168.1.2:vmlinuz (eth0,tftp) ***
MIPS *** Autoboot failed ***

This message keeps popping up in the logs after a reboot, then after about 40 minutes

MIPS *** Autoboot: Trying device 'eth0' file 192.168.1.2:vmlinuz (eth0,tftp) ***

And no failed message appearing after.
Thanks in advance, best regards.

I'd be curious if the system doesn't like the handshake to the voice switch. (Auto., 100/full). Make sure this matches.

Hi,

I can see you already replied on the Mitel forums, do you want to keep the conversation there? The handshake part makes sense now.
Thanks.

We'll keep ours here and let's see who else chimes in either here or on the Mitel one.

That's fine. So did you mean the LAN port on the Mitel (port 17, which is not part of the L2 switch) and the port on the other end (I got a HP switch there)? I do have the same VLAN config on both sides.

Yes. Are you using the built in POE ports as well?

Let me give a more in-depth explanation.

Mitel VLAN settings: Data and Voice VLAN both set to 1, I'm not really caring about the Data VLAN at all.
Mitel LAN port: it's connected to a HP switch via a voice untagged port, LAN port is configured as untagged Data tagged Voice, but since the two VLAN id's overlap this isn't an issue.
Mitel L2 switch: couple of phones connected, they do use PoE. SIP provider's router (some Cisco) is also connected here.
HP switch: couple of phones, border gateway connected here. All ports are configured as untagged voice (VLAN id 1)

Now here comes the tricky part, HP switch is connected to another HP switch (and via that to the rest of the network). This segment of the network is using Voice VLAN id 1002, but since the two HP switches are connected via an access/untagged voice port this is not an issue. I'm trying to move the Mitel and the HP switch to the correct VLAN id, and that's why I need to reboot the unit.

I tried rebooting twice in the last weeks, and on both occasions I was literally panicking as I seen this message and couldn't access the management interface. Then after unplugging - plugging cables it seemed to have an effect and the unit came back up.

Now I'm trying to figure out what this message means, I'm trying to get ready for the next reboot :)

Thanks in advance.

Hey, Greg. Is the error message actually causing an issue? If not I would open a ticket with Mitel and see what they say. I'd open a ticket regardless. Thanks.
