mist in pic

hi,
i have a picture of and old spooky looking church, i made its bell ring and light flicker now i want to make some mist on it, but can't find a way to do it, i want to make transparent and hope fully realistic looking mist , . i got to make transparent clouds, but when i import them in flash they look okay but have a sqaure boundry whihc tell that they are not part of pic.
i looked at some old threads but am not clear
can anyone guide me a little

Apply a layer mask to the mist file in Photoshop. Select all, then Select>Modify Selection>Contract. Choose something like 100 px (for starters then tweek as necessary). Then Select>Inverse. Fill with black (on layer mask). Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur (adjust to taste). File>Save for Web Choose png24 and preserve transparency.

That should give you a faded out edge on your mist.
