missing volume control icon in systray

I was installing Dragon Nat Speaking for voice recognition typing and at one point was aksed to check my volume/mic/line in settings. The volume control window popped up and when I exited out, the small yellow megaphone icon on my systray is gone. Did a file search and found a shortcut for volume control but when I double click it nothing happens.....searched for target program and found SNDVOL32.EXE (close enough) even when I right click this icon and try to open it nothing happens. I see no yellow exclamations in my device manager either....please help been unable to continue installation for weeks now...no one can answer my question so far. PS....sound still plays for other programs and volume controls on keyboard are active I just cant get the volume control window to pop up so I can make changes to sound settings........thanks <br>

Go to Start&gt;Setting&gt;ControlPanel&gt;Multimedia<br>Check the box that says show volume control on taskbar.<br><br>If SNDVOL32.EXE isn't working, you may need to exrtact the original from the CD.<br><br>reghakr<br><br>
