I have SAVCE 10.0.2 and some of my users are getting pop up messages on the very first login of the day saying they are missing the virus definitions. And they do not get it every day. It does stop viruses I have tested that so it is working.

When you look at the definitions date is shows the correct date. I have been working with Symantec on this for about 2 months now.

Sounds like it is an issue with the Windows Security Center. You can disable that in the System Center for that group if it is a problem. As long as the Symantec Client is checking in with the server and getting it's updates, the client should be protecting just fine.
On a side note, the very first time you install, the Windows Security Center will pop up that your defs are out of date, but once it contacts the server (or you run LiveUpdate) it should stop prompting.
