Hi !

Server :
- Solaris 8 on station 20
- SunStoredge L 1000
- Netbackup Enterprise Server 5.0

AdminClient ( my PC )
- Windows XP
- NB AdminConsole 5.0

Since 1 week i have installed NB ES 5.0 on the server as an upgrade installation.
Now i try something to do with my administration console on my PC, it works with 4.5 admin console, but not with 5.0 .

1. Reports
with 4.5 i could see if a backup ended with status 1,
what files are not backuped. With 5.0 not !

2. Host Properties
with 4.5 i could configure the include / exclude list
on a windows Client. With 5.0 not !

3. Restore Console
with 4.5 there was an java based RestoreConsole, only to
restore files. in 5.0 there is an java based
administration console with all functions, but i dont
need this.
AND ! This console on 5.0 did`nt work ( Status 137 ).

This is my statement after 1 week i use NB ES 5.0.
Perhaps i am blind and did`nt find these functions !
Can anybody confirm my statements, or help me !

Greets !

Holger

Try installing the 5.0 mp2 or call veritas and see if this would help.

Hello again !

Statement after i try something to solve the problems.

At first i install the 5.0 MP. Thanks to Vela !

1. Reports
The report now show the not-backuped files.

2. Host Properties
If the client is version 5.0 too, i can configured the
client include/exclude_list

3. Restore Console
the java-admin-console works fine.
but --> thats the same as i posted in my Thread
first -->
with 4.5 there was an java based RestoreConsole, only to
restore files. in 5.0 there is an java based
administration console with all functions, but i dont
need this.

Ok, thats it.

The answer to 3 is that you can configure the level of access and admin that each user or group has. So you can set 'backup_boy' account to only do restores if you like. Look at auth.conf on the master, do a search for that in the NB admin guide vol 1. But then most people don't complain when they get more than the need on less.
