I am having problems with a few sites sending me emails and us not receiving all the text. We are using exchange server 5.5 with SP4 and Outlook 98 on most PC's. The problem is this:

The email will come though with only a certain number of characters allowed in each paragraph. It will chop the rest of the paragraph off including any spare lines. The next paragraph will start immediately under the preceding truncated paragraph and will also have the text cut off. The number of characters allowed is consistently the same. The sites effected are consistently the same.

I have contacted our ISP and they say that the mail is leaving them intact. We have no length restrictions set up that I am aware off.

Has anyone seen this problem and does anyone have any ideas?

What have you checked? When you say the 'sites' affected are consistent - does this actually mean 'servers'?

There is a setting on the 'advanced options' button on the 'internet mail' tab of internet mail connection, through exchange admin.

You can specify how many characters will fit on a line before it wraps - I really don't know what effect it has, but mine is set to never wrap. I'd suggest you check, and if neccessary try yours with the same.

Otherwise, are you using some kind of custom form for viewing email, or Outlook standard. I dunno, but I'd look at that too (probably somewhere in the tools/options/email tab on Outlook - I've got 97 on this machine, so can't tell you).

Normally, using a standard Ex5.5 and Outlook config, this should never happen. Look for 'the unusual', and you'll almost always find the problem!
