Hello,

I have a 20GB hard drive which was partitioned into 4 drives. Everything has worked fine since I installed/partitioned the drive 6 months ago. The other day, I went to search for something on one of the drives and found that only the C drive and the CD burner were available. What could have happened, and how do I recover the other partitions???

Thanks,

Sounds like you either have a logical or a physical problem with the drive. If the bios can see the drive correctly, then it is possible that the partition table and or boot record is corrupted.

However, there are a mirad of tips and suggesstions to wade through, if you do not understand how a hard disk works of reads/write data most solutions will be for naught.

Is the drive spin? does the drive make noises? Does the bios see the drive correctly? There are numerous questions to ask before the drive can be properly dianosed and the problems resolved.

I tried to make a 10GB partition from my 60GB HD, and the computer crashed a 3rd of the way through. I recovered only 50GB back by using PTEDIT (Partition Magic 7) However the partition I was making is nowhere to be found and my 60GB HD is only 50GB now! But in partition magic it sees it as 60GB, how can I get those 10GB back? Please help
