missing paragraph palette...

can't make the paragraph palette come up anymore...in the windows menu, it is selected so should be showing but doesn't...all other windows work. this is VERY frustrating, since you can not fix leading and kerning without it very easily. anyone have any ideas? i have uninstalled and re-installed, and it didn't help. *DESPERATE*

Depending on which version of Illustrator and if on a mac or pc will depend on where you find the pref files.
Close all adobe programs.
Find the preference files for you program and delete them. This will not harm your files for the program. You will find all the orginal setting back for the program such as all the windows open just as it looked first time you opened the program.
You should be able to find where the prefs are in the users guide.

Wow...this is the exact problem I'm having...both Character and Paragraph won't open?? I thought I did something. Ikonpro just answered my question too. Let me know if it works. I'll be trying mine tomorrow at work.

i m having the same problem, i have tried to find my pref files but no luck, i have done a search and everything. but cant find them. I am on a PC runing XP and AI10

Not sure how we find the preferences. I went into Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator and I don't see it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

I can't find preferences either...running on a pc system...does anyone know what folder? thanks i am so looking forward to having a normal illustrator again, lol.

On XP you will find them in the following location
C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Adobe\Illustrator

In Windows, this file is called AI Prefs. In Windows 98 and ME, it is located in the Windows\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 10 folder. In Windows NT, this file is located in WinNT\Profiles\user name\ Application Data\Adobe Illustrator 10 folder. In Windows 2000 and XP it is in the Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 10 folder.
In Mac OS, the preferences file is called Adobe Illustrator 10.0 Prefs. In Mac OS 9.x, it is located in the System Folder\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator 10 folder. In Mac OS X, it is located in the Mac OS X\Users\Home\Library\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator 10 folder.

(and by the way, i had to make sure hidden files were shown b/c the application data folder it was in was not the common one...)

i am so excited to have illustrator functionality back
