In major panic mode so hopefully this will be clear.

I had my Outlook Express Mail Store on my C: drive. Due to the huge size of it I wanted to move to E: drive where I have loads of spare space. I cut/pasted it from C: to E: which seemed to work OK. Changed the File Store Location within program and stopped/restarted it. When it restarted none of my folders were showing. It seemed like only some of the files were on E: but because I did cut/paste and not copy/paste they were not in C: either

I am thinking that maybe copy didnt work cos I had program open even though the copy process took about 10 mins (+150MB of files)

The question is can I restore these files using something like PC Inspector or an in built XP program or are they lost for good.

Thanks in advance.

OE uses two hidden index files that must be transferred. Your cut and paste should not have affected them.

Please see this site for details, and hopefully a remedy. My own guess is that you should first try the OE tool for changing the location of the files, and then point to your new folder. It should then transfer the missing index files.

But read in detail here:
