Greetings,

With my Outlook 2000 at work, I clearly recall seeing the 'Out Of Office Assistant' under the Tools menu. However, at home, I don't see it anywhere.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get it?

I was thinking the answer could be found from the Microsoft website, but no luck thus far.

Many thanks,

Your missing the Add-in or you don't have it checked. Go to TOOLS - OPTIONS - OTHER - ADVANCED OPTIONS - ADD IN MANAGER. The Add-in Exchange Extension Commands will hopefully be listed if so check it. Click OK until you are back to Outlook.

If you don't see the Exchange Extension Commands you will need to add it. Click on Install and select Outex.ecf. This will add the service and then you can check it on. joegz

Very good information.

However, perhaps my version is a little screwed up, because although I can clearly view the 'OUTEX.ecf' I cannot actually add it in. It simply doesn't appear in the Add-In List.

This looks bizarre. Any ideas??

Do I need to have Microsoft Exchange installed for this option to be available? This is my best guess.

All input is more than welcome:)

You need Exchange Sever for the Out of Office assistant. Also Outlook needs to be installed in Corp/workgroup mode.

Great info thus far.

One last issue: Will the Out of Office Assistant work with Internet e-mail or will it only work with e-mail from Exchange?

Although I was able to install the Out of Office Assistant, it still is inoperable and displays the following error:
Code:
The command is not available. See the program documentation about how to use this extension.

...however, that documentation is unclear.

Again, many thanks:)
