I'm trying to set up an internet ftp service and have installed MS Internet Server but the ftp service won't start. It fails because NTLMSSP service is missing. When I look in Services there's no sign of it. Anyone know how to install it?

Install RPC Configuration service. Re-install if it's already there and re-apply the last service pack.

I think it's there when you install NT, I mean it's selected by default. I wonder why it isn't there. Could you check again the Services icon, look for "NT LM Security Support Provider". WINS, DHCP, IIS services, all depend on it.

BTW, what's your server configuration? Mubashir

Hi Mubashir, you're an ace! I installed RPC Configuration service and reinstalled SP6 and that fixed it. What I really don't understand is why the IIS installation doesn't bother to check for an essential service. Thanks again, John
