Added MS Client for Microsoft Networks & MS Client for Netware Networks. Set Client for Microsoft Networks to default logon & set domain. Can't login to domain - but even more disturbingly, I have no Network Neighbourhood icon on desktop. Tried reinstalling clients - no luck.

Anyone know how to get network neighbourhood up & running.

Thanks

Gary

the only thing I can think of that would cause the icon not to appear is the NIC not being present in the network settings even though it appears in the device manager.

If you are using NT you will need to creat a computer account on the domain before you will be able to log on.

in 98 when the NIC is bound to the protocaols that you use it should appear in the settings as TCP/IP %name of nic%. if not networking will not be fully installed and the icon will not be there.

The there may be some setting missing. Did you set the Workgroup under identification to the same name as the Domain? This has to be done with both 98 and NT.

Thanks guys - sorry for taking so long to get back.

I am a complete diddyman - reinstalled MS Client for Microsoft networks (again) frfom a different CD & up she came (network neighbourhood that is)

Zelandakh - just about everything necessary was seemingly present in CP Network - NIC card, both clients, TCP/IP (configured OK), dial up adapter, Windows family logon, with default logon set to Client for Microsoft (configured OK).

AJ Tech - NIC was bound to TCP/IP OK (seemingly). I'm supposing a corrupt client install from the first CD. Or maybe dualbooting 2000Pro & 98 was somehow interfering.

Once again, thanks for the response & sorry for being pants on this one.
