All of a sudden all the mailboxes in our exchange server disapeared. No one can send or receive mail. We are stumped and have no clue what could have caused this.

Has anyone seen or been in this situation before?
What could have gone wrong?
any ideas on what we can check for to get to the root of the problem?

any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Jovix

You should start checking the Eventlogs, 'some' errors must be logged.

Javix,

Marcs41 has good advice. I'd also do a search for *.edb and *.stm to find out if more than one priv1.edb exists. Possibly it was removed, locked to read-only etc, permissions set so that Exchange can't access it, and a new one was created and mounted.

But, before doing anything I'd be doing a backup of what you DO have, and don't overwrite the last backup, hopefully you've got that too.

Good luck. :1
