After a reboot this morning, my M drive fails to mount.

Im receiving the following errors in my log:

7024, 418, 8253, 9564, 9581, 8197, 57858

Or the messages:
Error initializing session for virtual machine
NTSERVER1.

The error number is 0x8004011d. Make sure Microsoft
Exchange Store is running.

Error 0x803207d3 starting the Microsoft Exchange
Information Store.

Failed to init VSERVER.

Error code -2144204845 returned from virus scanner
initialization routine. Virus scanner was not loaded.

Virtual Server 2: SMTP server cannot read metabase key
MailQueueDir.

Virtual Server 2: SMTP server cannot read metabase key
MailPickupDir.

The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service
terminated with service-specific error 0.

When I try to start the store, it just says it cannot be
started.

I had this problem once before when I installed the IIS lockdown tool. Uninstalling it took care of the problem.

Ive been all through Microsofts site - it basically says
that this can happen, but not really how to fix it.

Im on 2000 SBS, Exchange 2000 SP3. I do not have AV installed on the server.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds more like metabase corruption actually. The IIS metabase is corrupt, couldn't be accessed and keys were missing according to the error codes. Typically, IIS is reinstalled when the metabase is corrupt. The problem is, that means uninstalling and reinstalling exchange ... or: The best solution in this case would be a /disasterrecovery install of exchange. The disasterrecovery install reads configuration information from Active directory. The IIS metabase is populated by a one-way funtion that reads from AD and writes to the metabase. Any damage that was done should be repaired. To perform the install,

1. Shut down the Exchange services [if possible]
2. Copy the databases and logs to another location [if possible]
3. Shut down the Exchange server.
4. In ADUC, locate the machine account for the exchange server, and reset the account [right click on computer account, reset computer account]. If you don't do this step, and instead delete the computer account, you'll have to go back in and muck with permissions.
5. Put the OS CD in the Exchange server and boot to an install.
6. Reinstall the OS and install the same service packs that were on it before. Give the server the same name and join the domain.
7. Install exchange through the command line: cddrive:\setup\i386\setup.exe /disasterrecovery
8. Apply any Exchange service packs that were on it previously.
9. At this point, if you have the databases and logs, go to step 10. Otherwise, you start the services and restore from your last online backup.
10. Ensure that exchange services are stopped and the log and database dorectories are empty. If you had started the services, exchange mounts a blank store. That's ok if you want to restore from tape, but we want to swap out the databases. If there is anything in the logs or database directories, remove it.
11. Copy the logs and databases saved in step 2 to their proper location.
12. start up the exchange services.

Yup, reinstalling IIS messes up exchange:
