When I open a pdf in Acrobat Professional 7, I go to Document Properties and I am advised that the fonts used are TimesNewRoman and TimesNewRoman,Bold, which are standard Fonts. But when I try and paste the pdf into Pagemaker or Quark (Both PC) I get the message

The following fonts are missing :
TimesNewRoman,Bold

and the fonts are changed in face but not spacing

If I put the pdf into Word it appears to be OK.

This happens whether the pdf is made on my PC or as an imported file

Are they TrueType fonts or Postscript fonts?

Hi Cricket

Both are shown as True Type Fonts

Instead of pasting try using the place or get picture command to put the pdf in PM or Quark.

Sorry I should have said place not paste.

If I try select all in Acrobat and then copy the file and try to paste in Pagemaker I get the text OK, but not the pictures from within the text

When I try it on an older PC that has got an older version of Acrobat (not Professional) installed it loads OK

Does document properties say that the font is embedded?

You're having a font mapping problem. The 2 page layout apps are looking for the font and not finding it for some reason. If you see another font in the page layout app, you're seeing that app use it's default font since it can't find the original. If the font is embedded this problem should go away.

If you use the standard Press setting for making pdfs, which you would want for any page layout app, you'll get the font embedded.

Did not get anywhere yesterday, so I removed Acrobat Professional from my Harddrive and reloaded it, changed font settings to embed all fonts, plus included both Times New Roman fonts types that I have got (ttf and PS) into the embedded section.
Converted a job from Word into a pdf and then loaded pdf into Pagemaker and fonts were not recognised, similar result in Quark (both on a PC). I took the file to my Works Computer today, that has got an older version of Acrobat (not Professional) loaded and copied files into Pagemaker without a problem, ie fonts were all recognised.
So the problem only occurs where I have Professional loaded.
