I had a XP system loose all fonts in c:\windows\fonts.
When the system would boot, all desktop icons and another text on the screen would be shapes and symbols instead of letters. If I changed the theme, the fonts would correct themself. If you rebooted after that, they would go back to the symbols.
I ran the XP repair option and it fixed and replaced all fonts, I just wanted to know what happened.
The only thing the user told me, was that AOL 8 was removed and 9 installed, then the problem started.
