Am at a loss...I was going through some old floppies, moving the data to my hard drive and one of the discs seemed to get stuck. So I closed everything down, but the system seemed to be slow so I rebooted.
Since then, the floppy drive (A:\) has gone missing. If I got through run and type A:\ I get the following message
Run
a:\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.
I found 2 articles on Microsoft's website that seem to address the issue
( AND
But each asks me to find the registry key for the floppy which I did, and delete the "Upperfilters" and the "Lowerfilters", niether of which are listed in the right pane of the registry when selecting the aforementioned key.
The device manager shows no yellow exclamation points and the floppy controller says it is working fine.
I am running XP Pro SP2 on a Gateway.
