Hi all,
I'm having trouble while working with table of figures.
This is the method that I used:
Insert > Preference > Index and Table > Table of Figures

I had my table of figure, unfortunately, there were couple figures I could not found in my list. I tried different thing such as: re-created another one, updated table, created caption... None worked.

Please help me !!!

Hi mintjulep,

Those two missing figures in the list were actually name as same as other figures within my document,
e.g. FIGURE 1, FIGURE 2, FIGURE 3,....etc...
Do u think of any other cause?

They may be named the same, but if they are not in the text layer, then the table of figures will not catch them. As mintjulep suggested, they are probably not figures.

Did you look up Troubleshooting Table of Figures in Help? It mentions putting a caption on a floating object. Captions for floating objects (a graphic or other object inserted into the drawing layer so it can be precisely placed) are NOT in the text layer. Therefore they will not be picked up as Figures.

How - precisely - did you make these figures?

Gerry,
As my understanding your question, this is how the figure is created
First, I type in "FIGURE 1: name of figure", then copy pictures, charts from another document and paste them.
Is there any thing going wrong here?

If possible, always be precise and explicit in your answers. If I understand correctly...

You are typing in text ("FIGURE 1: name of figure") - which BTW could be "sdhkh7thskdhbcaK" as far as Word is concerned - then pasting in a graphic.

Correct?

Table of Figures are generated from fields. These are in Captions. The object to get a caption is selected FIRST then the caption inserted (Insert > Reference > Caption), not just text typed in.

I got it.
Thank a lot, Gerry
