Hi folks,

Firstly don't shot me for using gimp on a windows xp machine!

Anyway now to the question... Has anyone tried to get Gimp to work on windows xp? Only reason I ask is that when I load Gimp on my WinXP machine I get a warning about missing files that are required! The files are;

Libjpeg6b.dll
libpng-3.dll
libz.dll
libtiff.dll

I've managed to stop Gimp (well windows) from nagging about libtiff.dll but the rest, I'm having difficulties in tracking them down.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to where I could possibly find these missing files?

Regards

Toby Heywood

The same symtoms was after installing gtk+-1.3.0-20020912-setup.exe and gimp-1.2.3-20020527-setup.exe into W98. (-:

Hi, Tobyheywood

Those are Linux libraries that have been ported to Win32. You can download those libraries from the Win32 project at Ensure they are in installed in a %PATH% directory.

The .dll names don't >exactly< match their webpage names (ie, libjpeg6b is under "jpeg.htm"), so you'll need to dig through the list a touch.

Cheers
