When I boot Windows 98, a window pops up with the following error message:

The GLUON.EXE file
linked to missing export NNETWK.DLL:RASGetDeviceName

Nothing bad seems to happen, but I was just wondering what is causing it.

TIA

do you have, or have you had any Norton (symantec) software?

Yes, I use Norton Antvirus.

Does this computer use Quark locally or through a network? I believe Gluon is Quark x-press plug-in.

No, this computer does not use Quark.

As far as I know, GluOn is part of a branded isp service (such as American Express Online), which is provided by Brand3 Inc. I don't know what the dll in question is, but I guess it's trying to find the modem through it.

Hope this helps.

Go with Paulwood's suggestion...
I was thinking there was somme symantec app you deinstalled improperly (a lot of their files start with "nn"). But Norton antivirus wouldn't give you that error, I'm pretty sure.

Paulwood,
Your suggestion was right on, I was using American Express Online while it was free. I have just installed again then uninstalled it and the problem has gone away. I thought that would be safer than messing with the registry.
Thanks,

I was trying to remove my HP scanner files and may have accidentally removed
files related to my my printer driver. In reinstalling it, I can get the
HPprinter to work with Word Perfect only, but when I try to use MS Word, I
get a message that the printer driver is missing or not valid. This happens
in MS Word only, some of my saved MS files are now saved in a different
format. Please help!

It may seem a little drastic, but probably your best bet is to uninstall the printer, and then reinstall from scratch.
