My laptop came from HP, thus is has no disc for XP.
It runs on Windows XP Professional; HP Pavillion zv5000.

I don't know what exactly happened to it, but it's stuck in perpetual start up.
So, I went to do a rapair install. It notified me that there were four .dll files missing from the disc.
I went back to the ISO and sure enough, they weren't there. I added the files and tried again, still the same thing.

Any suggestions?

Also note that I can only get into BIOS, I can't boot to my HD.

I used the HDD test in BIOS and everything passed (long and short).

Will it load in Safe Mode?

Do you have any option like this on your machine?

System recovery
HP Pavilion zv5000 Notebook PC

HP Backup and Recovery Manager

Contacting HP Help and Support might result in a solution or replacement CD's etc?

You should try the auto recovery feature (my sisters HP has this feature (its just a backup of the factory HD on a seperate partition) Try pressing one of the Function keys (forget which one) and you should be able to pull it up and restore.
