Hi,

I have the SQL SERVE 2005 Standard Edition installed in my Window Server 2003 box. I started to learn the new SSIS project. However, when I follow this,
All Programs/SQL Server 2005/Select Business Intelligent Development Studio THEN
File/New/New Project Option, I don't see the option, "Data Transformation Project" but I see the rest, Analysis Services Project; Integration Services Project; Report Model Project; Import Analysis Services Database;Report Server Project Wizard;Report Server Project

Did I do something wrong when I installed the software into the box? What should I do if I missed that option because I need to create a lot of DTS or import the Server 2000's DTS into this new box.
Thank you.

In SQL Server 2005, DTS is replaced by Integration Services (SSIS). There is no Data Transformation Project.

Do you want to convert the 2000 DTS packages into SSIS packages? Or do you want to be able to use 2000 DTS in 2005 as is?

If you want to be able to run the DTS packages as they are but in SQL 2005, you need to make sure you have installed the 2000 DTS Components for SQL2005. You can get it from Microsoft's website. This will allow you to import DTS packages as they are without converting them to SSIS. After it's installed, you would open the Object Explorer in Management Studio, establish a connection to the database engine, expand Management, and you will see Legacy. When you expand Legacy, you should see Data Transformation Services. That's where the DTS packages will reside when you import them.

If you want to convert your DTS packages to SSIS, you would create an Integration Services project and import them from within the project.

Hope that helps or at least gets you started.
