Missing Company Directory to email employees

Lotus Notes 6.5, WinXP Pro, Office 2k Pro. User received replacement laptop and informed he is unable to find any employees to send email. Says his company directory is not available. He's still getting email and able to send to saved addresses from his personal contacts list. Did I miss something? Thanks to all in advance.

check the address settings for this users location: it should not be set to deaktivated or only local search
(sorry I am using another language version, so I am not 100% sure what it is called in english)

second would be to add the company directory as addressbook in the user settings -> mail
