Missing circular selector

Occasionally, the circular selector for the Clone Stamp and Spot Healing tools for Photoshop CS2 become just a dot with small 4 lines pointing out around it which stays the same small size no matter which size I make the tool. To get the sizeable circle shape back, I sometimes have to exit and restart Photoshop CS2 several times.

What causes this condition and what do I need to set to get the sizeable circle selector back when it somehow changes to that other small fixed-size shape.

Somebody gave me the answer:

The Caps Lock button was the answer. It toggles the cursor between the sizeable circle and a fixed size dot.
